Yoon Jae-ok: "I will thoroughly investigate responsibility as soon as the Jamboree ends"

Democratic Party Focuses Solely on Shaking Yoon Government
Local Governments Must Learn from Jamboree Incident as a Cautionary Tale

Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, announced on the 11th that he will thoroughly investigate the responsibility as soon as the World Scout Jamboree ends.

At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, Yoon said, "The Democratic Party of Korea is ignoring the party responsible for the accident and instead blaming the central government, which is trying to manage the aftermath, solely to shake the Yoon Suk-yeol administration," adding, "The responsibility emphasized by the Democratic Party will be thoroughly investigated once the Jamboree concludes."

He criticized, "The reckless remark that the hosting of the Busan Expo is off the table clearly reveals the intention to destabilize the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and hinder the country's progress."

He also stated, "Local governments that have attracted international events should not repeatedly neglect event preparations and use them as a means to secure social overhead capital (SOC) projects," adding, "If local governments fail, they should not shift the responsibility to the central government." He further added, "I hope the Jamboree serves as a lesson for local governments to mature."

After the meeting, when asked again by reporters about the investigation into the responsibility for the Jamboree, Yoon said, "We intend to investigate the overall facts regarding the issues," and added, "Since there is great public interest, we will consider approaches to quickly identify the causes of the problems."

Regarding the conclusion of the Democratic Party's Innovation Committee, he strongly criticized it, saying, "It focused more on the interests of specific factions than on ethical reform."

Yoon pointed out, "Regardless of party lines, it is evaluated as the worst innovation in the history of political parties," and said, "The final announcement by the Democratic Party's Innovation Committee was aligned not with the public's expectations but with the party leader's perspective, reflecting the will of the 'Gaeddal' (fierce supporters of Lee Jae-myung)." He added, "It is an innovation plan that strengthens fandom politics by accepting the claims of Lee Jae-myung's extreme supporters, Gaeddal, and a plan to weed out the non-mainstream factions," and said, "For the Democratic Party's innovation, the party leader must first show reflection, introspection, and responsibility that meet the public's standards regarding the party leader risk and the 'Jjeondae' (money envelope party convention) issue."
