Wearing Masks, Washing Hands, and Observing Cough Etiquette
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has urged voluntary compliance with quarantine rules amid an increase in COVID-19 cases and the summer vacation season.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 9th, COVID-19 cases have been on the rise for six consecutive weeks since the fourth week of June, although the rate of increase slightly decreased in the first week of August. The infection reproduction number also slightly declined in the first week of August.
In response, the Hamyang-gun Public Health Center emphasized the importance of voluntarily following quarantine rules such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, observing cough etiquette, and regularly ventilating and disinfecting to ensure a safe summer vacation.
They particularly urged active participation in indoor mask-wearing and other quarantine measures in high-risk environments such as crowded places like public transportation and multi-use facilities, as well as medical institutions frequently used by vulnerable groups.
A health center official stated, “With increased movement and face-to-face contact during the summer vacation season, we ask everyone to comply with personal quarantine rules such as wearing masks and washing hands to have a healthy summer.”
