2023 Heo Jun Theme Street Committee Meeting Held
Emphasis on Creating a Space for Staying, Not Just Passing Through
Park Dae-woo, Acting Mayor of Gangseo District (right), is presiding over the '2023 1st Heo Jun Theme Street Committee Meeting' on the morning of the 10th in the district office's large conference room.
The ‘Heo Jun Theme Street’ connecting Gayang Station to the Heo Jun Museum in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, will be reborn as a space with even richer attractions.
On the morning of the 10th, the district held the ‘2023 1st Heo Jun Theme Street Committee Meeting’ in the large conference room of the district office, where about 10 public and private experts attended to discuss these matters.
At the meeting, the committee members shared excellent cases from other local governments and explored ways to apply them to the region.
They unanimously agreed that the street should be developed as a place both the MZ generation and older generations want to visit, harmonizing tradition and modernity.
The core of the renovation is to create a stay-type space where citizens visiting the Heo Jun Theme Street can linger, not just pass through.
The district plans to highlight the symbolism of the Heo Jun Theme Street by installing a digital media gate and various sculptures that allow visitors to feel the spirit of Heo Jun.
To this end, a character for the Heo Jun Theme Street has been developed with a design that can approach citizens more familiarly.
The Heo Jun Theme Street renovation project will be carried out over about one year until 2024, with a total investment of 820 million KRW, including a special grant of 770 million KRW.
Park Dae-woo, Acting Mayor of Gangseo-gu, said, “We will carefully examine if there are any shortcomings and supplement any deficiencies,” adding, “We will do our best to develop it into a specialized street with the unique charm of Gangseo-gu.”
