Yeongdeungpo-gu Installs Anti-Illegal Advertisement Attachment Signs

Yeongdeungpo-gu announced that it has newly installed 402 anti-illegal advertisement attachment panels along a total 3.1km section including Seonyu-ro and Dangsan-ro to create safe school routes free from illegal advertisements.

From May to July this year, the district invested approximately 45 million KRW to carry out the installation work for the anti-illegal advertisement attachment panels.

The installation targets include 73 traffic lights, 95 utility poles, 27 communication poles, 52 street lamps, and 155 others, totaling 402 panels. These were intensively installed around school routes and alleyways near six local schools (Dangjung Elementary, Dangseo Elementary, Dangsan Middle, Seonyu Elementary, Middle, and High Schools).

The anti-illegal advertisement attachment panels are made with special pads featuring protrusions on the surface, which provide a high prevention effect against attachments and leave no traces. Additionally, they have supplementary functions such as electric shock prevention and nighttime safety accident prevention.

These panels help protect students from indiscriminate illegal advertisements such as harmful youth posters and loan flyers by preemptively blocking advertisement attachments on utility poles and street lamps around schools.

In particular, in child protection zones, yellow attachment prevention panels containing phrases indicating the child protection zone are installed intensively to help drivers easily recognize these zones. This encourages drivers to slow down, leading efforts to reduce child traffic accidents and significantly enhance student pedestrian safety.

Since 2020 until now in 2023, the district has sequentially installed 2,267 anti-illegal advertisement attachment panels at locations such as Daerim Children’s Park intersection, Yeongdeungpo Market entrance, and Seoul Southern Employment and Labor Office intersection.

Furthermore, the district is promoting various projects to eradicate illegal advertisements, including ▲removal of advertisement traces ▲nighttime and weekend crackdowns on illegal advertisements ▲a poster and banner collection reward system.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We will continue to expand the installation areas of anti-illegal advertisement attachment panels focusing on school surroundings and child protection zones. We will do our best to minimize residents’ inconvenience caused by illegal advertisements and create a safe and pleasant environment.”
