Kim Byung-su, Chief of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, visited the coastal area of Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, which suffered significant damage from Typhoon Maemi in 2003, to inspect the flood barriers.
Chief Kim said, “To protect the lives of residents and minimize property damage, thoroughly inspect typhoon preparedness facilities and be fully prepared for wave overtopping damage during high tide.”

On the same day, around 2 p.m., when a heavy rain warning was issued across Gyeongnam, the provincial police agency declared a disaster emergency level 'Eul' and is preparing for disaster situations.
At night, four police units on duty will be deployed to four regions within the province to respond to any emergencies.
The 'Eul' emergency is the second-highest police emergency level following the 'Gap' emergency and is declared when large-scale collective incidents, terrorism, or disaster situations occur or are likely to occur.
When the 'Eul' emergency is declared, the following measures are implemented: ▲ 50% of available personnel are mobilized for emergency duty ▲ commanders and staff officers remain at their designated posts ▲ suspension of annual leave for police officers in the affected area.
