Hyundai Motor Labor and Management Gift Staria to Jeonju Plant Employee with Eight Siblings

The labor and management of Hyundai Motor Company gifted an MPV Staria to an employee at the Jeonju plant who has eight siblings. This is the first case where Hyundai Motor’s labor and management have empathized with the seriousness of the low birthrate issue and prepared countermeasures at the labor-management level.

On the 9th, Hyundai Motor’s labor and management spent time talking with technician Jeong Gi-hwan’s family at the Jeonju plant and presented the MPV Staria.

Hyundai Motor’s labor and management operate a 'Low Birthrate and Childcare Support TFT' to overcome the low birthrate issue at the labor-management level. Earlier, Hyundai Motor’s labor and management decided to prepare comprehensive childbirth and childcare support measures based on employees’ life cycles, separate from this year’s collective bargaining. They also held a meeting to listen to difficulties and suggestions related to childbirth and childcare for families with multiple children.

After the meeting, the labor-management TFT presented technician Jeong’s family with gifts worth approximately 40 million KRW, including the Hyundai Staria, a washing machine, and a dryer. The 11-seater Staria is a multipurpose vehicle that the whole family can ride together. Hyundai Motor explained that it is even more meaningful as it is a model produced at the Jeonju plant where technician Jeong works.

Technician Jeong said, "I hope better low birthrate countermeasures will be prepared based on the comments I shared at this meeting." Jeong Eun-seol, the eldest of the eight siblings, said, "I am grateful that my dad’s company is considerate of our family."

A Hyundai Motor official said, "Through this meeting, we will prepare effective low birthrate countermeasures and childcare support plans," adding, "Hyundai Motor will do its best efforts to overcome the low birthrate for the future of the Republic of Korea."
