Showbox announced on the 8th that the movie "Secret Operation," starring actors Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon, has been sold to 103 countries overseas.
"Secret Operation" (directed by Kim Seong-hoon) will be released starting in North America on the 4th of this month, followed by the Philippines on the 9th, Australia and New Zealand on the 10th, and the United Kingdom on the 18th. It will be shown in Vietnam in August, and audiences in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar will see it in September.
North American distributor Well Go stated, "Viewers will be captivated by the thrilling action and enjoy the heartwarming story and comedic elements." Meanwhile, Japanese distributor The Cloakworks commented, "Korean films are always strong in stories set in extreme situations abroad," adding, "'Secret Operation' will also become one of the memorable masterpieces."
Showbox's overseas business team said, "Director Kim Seong-hoon, known for the movie 'A Hard Day' (2014) and the Netflix 'Kingdom' series, attracted high interest from overseas buyers from the early stages of production of 'Secret Operation,' featuring the combination of Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon and on-location shooting in Morocco." They added, "Regions confirmed for overseas release are preparing for their premieres, and negotiations with additional regions are ongoing."
"Secret Operation" is a buddy action film about diplomat Min-jun, who travels to Lebanon to rescue a missing colleague, and local taxi driver Pan-su. It was released domestically on the 2nd.
