Supporting Startups with Advanced Technologies to Participate in CES 2024 for Successful Overseas Expansion
Providing Various Support Programs through Joint Promotion with Seoul Business Agency (SBA)
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee), together with the Seoul Business Agency (SBA, CEO Kim Hyunwoo), is recruiting innovative companies to participate in the “International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024)” until August 16.
CES, held from January 9 to 12, 2024, in Las Vegas, USA, is one of the world’s top three electronics and information and communication technology (ICT) exhibitions hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). It is the largest exhibition in the world where the flow of future technologies can be seen at a glance.
For the second consecutive year participating in CES, the Seoul Business Agency (SBA) will establish the ‘CES 2024 Seoul Pavilion’ hosting about 85 companies. Gwanak-gu will organize the ‘Gwanak S-Valley Zone’ within the Seoul Pavilion and provide exhibition booths for 8 companies.
Gwanak-gu and the Seoul Business Agency plan to support the recruited companies, which are innovative enterprises in future industries aiming for overseas market entry, by providing ▲exhibition booths ▲airfare (up to 3 million KRW per company), as well as ▲business matching and training ▲one-on-one local interpretation ▲CES Innovation Award consulting to enhance exhibition outcomes.
Eligible applicants are startups established within 7 years whose headquarters, branches, or research institutes are located in Gwanak-gu as of the announcement date, and who possess advanced technologies in various industrial fields such as biohealth and artificial intelligence.
Companies wishing to apply should submit their application documents via email to the person in charge at the Gwanak-gu Office Job Venture Division by August 16 (applications close at 2 PM).
Gwanak-gu and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA) will select candidates through a fair evaluation process in August, and the final participating companies will be decided in November through a separate review and approval by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES.
Meanwhile, last year, Petnow, a tenant company of the Gwanak S-Valley startup support facility, won the ‘CES Best Innovation Award,’ and Gonggong received the ‘CES Innovation Award.’ The CES Innovation Award is given by the Consumer Technology Association, the organizer of the exhibition, to innovative technologies and products leading the world, and is known as the ‘highest honor at CES.’
Mayor Park Junhee said, “Entering overseas markets is an important strategy for companies to grow and expand their scope,” adding, “We will devise various support measures to help excellent startups in Gwanak S-Valley enter overseas markets.”
