Adjustment of Operating Hours for Senior Jobs and Emergency Cooling Cost Support
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do is making every effort to prevent heat-related illnesses among the elderly due to the heatwave.
According to the county on the 7th, to manage the health of the elderly, they plan to visit village senior centers to actively promote safety and health guidelines and adjust the working hours of participants in senior job programs.
The operating hours of the senior job program, which runs three times a week, will be adjusted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. throughout August to prevent safety accidents caused by the heatwave.
In particular, due to the issuance of a severe heatwave crisis alert, all outdoor job programs will be completely suspended from the 7th to the 11th.
Additionally, 116 life support workers providing customized care services for the elderly in each town and township are doing their best to manage the health of the elderly by visiting them directly during heatwave warnings to frequently check their health and activity status.
Furthermore, the county is preparing for this year’s record-breaking heatwave by actively utilizing senior centers as cooling shelters, providing an additional emergency cooling expense of 300,000 KRW to each village senior center using a reserve fund of 84 million KRW.
A representative from the Jindo-gun Family Happiness Division said, “During the hot summer, we will do our best to ensure the health and safety of the elderly so that they can spend a healthy summer.”
