Additionally, the main topics of arguments during summer were 'whether to operate the air conditioner' and 'vacation destination selection.'

On the 7th, Only-U, a remarriage-specialized matchmaking company, along with matchmaking company Bienarae (CEO Son Dong-gyu), conducted an online and email survey from July 31 to August 5 targeting 536 nationwide (twilight) remarriage hopeful divorced men and women (268 men and 268 women each).

First, in response to the question, "During your marriage, what behavior of your spouse during the hot summer did you find most unpleasant?" 34.3% of men answered "bare face exposure," while 32.1% of women answered "stingy tendencies," making these the most common responses.

Following that, men answered with "overspending tendencies (26.5%)," "lethargic appearance (20.5%)," and "stingy tendencies (11.2%)," while women responded with "restless behavior (25.7%)," "bare face exposure (19.0%)," and "lethargic appearance (15.0%)" in that order.

In response to the second question, "What is the main cause of arguments during the hot summer while married to your ex-spouse?" men and women gave different answers.

28.8% of men answered "vacation destination selection," the highest proportion. This was followed by "physical affection (26.1%)," "household chore division (22.0%)," and "air conditioner operation (16.0%)."

Women most frequently answered "air conditioner operation" at 31.0%. This was followed by "vacation destination selection (25.0%)," "home attire (20.2%)," and "household chore division (15.6%)."

Lee Kyung, General Manager of Bienarae, stated, "During summer, couples often have big or small arguments about where to go on vacation and whether to turn on the air conditioner. Since it is easy to get irritated over trivial matters in the heat, more than ever, consideration and understanding toward each other are required."

Summer Vacation: "Spend Moderately According to Reality"

Finally, in response to "What kind of economic mindset do you think is desirable when spending summer vacation during married life?" both men and women showed similar reactions.

47.4% of men and 42.6% of women answered "spend moderately according to reality," showing the highest response rate. This was followed by "it is acceptable to overspend somewhat for recharging (men 31.3%, women 34.3%)" and "spend practically (men 21.3%, women 23.1%)."

An Only-U representative said, "Overspending during vacation can easily lead to regrets, and focusing too much on cost-saving can prevent achieving the original purpose of the vacation, which also leads to regret. Therefore, it is desirable to spend the vacation at an appropriate level?not too much, not too little?from a cost perspective."

Lastly, CEO Son Dong-gyu explained, "During the hot summer, sweating a lot and energy depletion make emotional control difficult. It is necessary to use vacations appropriately as an opportunity to enhance affection between spouses instead of irritation and arguments."
