Enjoying Summer Everywhere from Sillim Station to Gwanaksan Station Children are enjoying adventures at Gwanaksan Adventure Forest.

Throughout Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee), there are enjoyable travel destinations where families can take the light rail Sillim Line during summer vacation without worrying about traffic congestion.

First, when you get off at Sillim Station, there are various attractions and fun spots such as Gwancheon-ro Cultural Platform S1472 and Byeolbitnaerincheon Water Playground.

‘Gwancheon-ro Cultural Platform S1472 (Sillim Station)’ is a cultural space where residents can easily access culture and arts in their daily lives, featuring various exhibitions and performances presented by local residents, artists, and organizations.

The number of visitors to Gwancheon-ro Cultural Platform S1472 reached about 14,000 as of July this year, nearly matching last year’s total of around 15,000 visitors, showing great popularity among local residents from children to adults.

In August, the following events will be held: in performing arts, ▲Supreme’s ‘Trot Heard on Guitar’ (August 4, 6 PM to 8 PM) ▲Manwol Project’s ‘Story of Chunhyang’ (August 19, 5 PM to 6 PM); and in visual arts, ▲Seo Youngcheol’s ‘Learning Landscapes’ (August 8 to August 13) ▲Jo Jeongeun’s ‘My Own Microcosm’ (August 22 to August 27).

After enjoying the exhibitions and performances, walking along Byeolbitnaerincheon leads to the ‘Byeolbitnaerincheon Children’s Water Playground’ which opened last July. This place features unique water play facilities such as umbrella fountains, arch water, four types of buckets, and sculptural showers, allowing children to cool off and play joyfully under the water streams.

The playground is for children aged 9 and under, operating until August 31, open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Additionally, residents who want to enjoy nature with their children can experience various programs such as Gwanaksan Valley Camping Forest and Gwanaksan Adventure Forest at Gwanaksan Station on the Sillim Line.

The ‘Gwanaksan Valley Camping Forest’ located here is a 10-minute walk from the station and operates until August 19. Nearby the camping forest are facilities such as Gwanaksan Valley Water Playground, children’s adventure facilities, and public restrooms.

Also, families who apply for the program can rent 5-person tents and mats, and amenities like microwave ovens, refrigerators, and water heaters are provided, receiving favorable reviews from residents who want to enjoy camping for one or two nights.

‘Gwanaksan Adventure Forest’ is a forest sports facility in the urban forest where visitors can enjoy the thrill of moving between trees with cool breezes. Notably, among the 979 annual users last year, 64.5% (632 people) were children, making it very popular among elementary school students.

The facility is available to anyone over 140 cm in height and operates three times a day (▲1st session 10:20?11:40 ▲2nd session 13:20?14:40 ▲3rd session 15:10?16:30), with a maximum of 25 participants per session.

The district also runs a ‘Summer Vacation Special Program for Toddler Forest’ until August 25.

At seven toddler forest experience centers (Cheongryongsan, Daehak-dong, Inheon-dong, Nakseongdae, Samsung-dong, Seonwoo Park, Dangok), various nature experiences are available such as learning the principles of resource circulation through valley water play and exploring forest trails using compasses and maps.

Residents wishing to participate in Gwanaksan Camping Forest, Adventure Forest, or toddler forest programs can apply through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “I hope residents make many fun and joyful memories with their families in Gwanak-gu this summer vacation, overcoming the heatwave,” and added, “We will continue to spare no support to discover diverse and fresh programs and create spaces that residents want.”
