Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that it launched a service in July allowing residents to easily check the locations of clothing collection boxes on the district’s website ‘Our Neighborhood Smart Map.’

‘Our Neighborhood Smart Map’ is a digital map visualized to allow residents to easily view necessary location information at a glance.

The smart map, operated to improve information accessibility and residents’ convenience, can be accessed on a PC by visiting the district’s website without installing any additional programs. Location information such as ▲volume-based waste bag sales stores ▲public restrooms ▲community sports programs is provided so residents can conveniently obtain information closely related to daily life.

To reduce the situation where discarded clothing is thrown away as general waste because residents cannot find clothing collection boxes, the district added the clothing collection box location service to the smart map. Considering the characteristic that the locations of clothing collection boxes frequently change, the district plans to continuously update and provide this information. Additionally, since May, the locations of clothing collection boxes have been registered on the location-based information app ‘Jebo,’ allowing residents to check them on their mobile phones as well.

A district official stated, “We hope this service will resolve the inconvenience residents experienced in finding clothing collection boxes, increase resource recycling rates, and contribute to practicing carbon neutrality. We will continue to seek ways to enhance residents’ convenience and provide various life-centered administrative services.”

In accordance with the ‘2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Plan,’ the district aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 compared to 1.58 million tons in 2018 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Dongdaemun-gu is making every effort to become a carbon-neutral city by promoting various projects such as installing food waste volume meters, unmanned PET bottle collection machines, and recycling coffee grounds.
