Assemblyman Seodongyong Engages in Communication through 'Visiting Constituency Reports'

Residents' Diverse Opinions from Village Complaints to Political Views

Assemblyman Seo: "We Strive Not Only to Hear Complaints but Also to Find Solutions"

National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong (Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, Gurye-eul) began direct communication with local residents through the 'Visiting Constituency Report Meeting' starting from the 1st of this month.

Starting with Dongoe Village in Gwangyang-eup, Gwangyang City on the 1st, Seo is conducting visiting report meetings mainly at village halls and senior centers where residents gather during the peak summer heat.

In particular, this report meeting is differentiated from the conventional method of inviting local residents to a specific location.

Seo's office explained that this meeting reflects a willingness to get one step closer to the residents.

Residents are also responding positively by directly sharing everything from minor village complaints to their thoughts on politics with Seo.

A resident of Inseo Village in Gwangyang-eup said, "It was a meaningful time to directly address our village's issues by having an opportunity to meet a National Assembly member up close," adding, "While it is important to visit and listen to complaints despite the busy National Assembly schedule, I hope efforts will also be made to find solutions rather than stopping there."

Seo responded, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and the relatively large constituency, opportunities to meet residents individually have been limited, so we specially prepared this opportunity to share our achievements," adding, "We will not only promote achievements but also dedicate more time to listening to residents' stories to better understand the practical difficulties they face."

He continued, "Although it is not possible to visit every village due to circumstances, even after the planned period ends, we will try to hold additional visiting report meetings to create more opportunities for communication."

Meanwhile, Seo's office plans to continue the 'Visiting Constituency Report Meeting' until the end of August, before the start of the temporary National Assembly session. As the regional chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, Seo intends to seek solutions to various complaints together with metropolitan and local council members and report the results again.

The visiting report meetings have been held in about 10 locations including Gwangyang City and Gokseong County so far, and are scheduled to be held in about 20 more locations within the constituency.
