Decided to Review and Adjust the 'Mid- to Long-Term Plan Revision' and Others
Ulsan City will hold the ’2023 International Urbanization Promotion Committee‘ (Chairman: Ahn Hyo-dae, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs) at 10:30 a.m. on the 4th in the situation room on the 7th floor of the City Hall main building.
About 10 people, including Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyo-dae and Choi Jin-hyuk, Head of the Economic General Headquarters of the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will attend the meeting.
The event will proceed with reporting the need to revise the ’2021-2025 Mid-to-Long-Term International Urbanization Plan,‘ reviewing the revision proposal, and deliberating on the ’2023 International Urbanization Implementation Plan‘ and the ’2023 Ulsan City International Development Cooperation Implementation Plan.‘
Among the agenda items to be reviewed that day, the ’2021-2025 Mid-to-Long-Term International Urbanization Plan Revision Proposal‘ was prepared by the Ulsan Institute due to difficulties in the normal promotion of the northern exchange and renewable energy policies, which are the main pillars of Ulsan City’s mid-to-long-term international urbanization plan, caused by the Russia-Ukraine situation and the new government’s shift in energy policy direction.
This revision proposal presents four major goals?Sustainably Growing Industrial City, First-Class Cultural Attractive City, Warm Companion Global City, and Leading City in Local Diplomacy?along with 45 detailed projects under the vision of ’Ulsan, a Newly Created Global City.‘
Key detailed projects harmoniously include economic industries such as ’Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Industry Promotion‘ and ’Future Energy and Battery Industry Promotion,‘ as well as economic and cultural projects like ’Creating a World-Class Performance Hall on the Ulsan Taehwa River‘ and ’Establishing a K-Culture Exchange Ecosystem.‘
The 2023 International Urbanization Implementation Plan will review the 2022 performance report and 2023 promotion plan for 42 projects based on the revised mid-to-long-term plan.
The ’2023 Ulsan Metropolitan City International Development Cooperation Implementation Plan‘ is a plan established annually by Ulsan City under the International Development Basic Act to enhance economic cooperation with developing countries and contribute to peace and prosperity in the international community, following the enactment of the ’2021 Ulsan City Ordinance on the Promotion of International Development Cooperation.‘
This implementation plan presents four promotion tasks and 16 promotion projects centered on industry and environment, which are strengths of Ulsan’s international development cooperation, under the vision of ’Great Companion Global City Ulsan.‘
Based on the results of the review and adjustment on the day, Ulsan City plans to finalize the revised mid-to-long-term plan and the international development cooperation implementation plan in August.
Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyo-dae said, “The whole world is connected as one, and just as Ulsan City provided humanitarian support to Ukraine through the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization last year, we will strive to actively contribute to the international community and advance as an international city.”
The ’International Urbanization Promotion Committee‘ is composed of 16 members to deliberate and coordinate various matters necessary for international urbanization, and it also acts as the International Development Cooperation Committee according to the ’Ulsan City Ordinance on the Promotion of International Development Cooperation.‘
