Focusing All Efforts on Improving Quality of Life and Convenience That Residents Can Feel

Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) has proven its high-level administrative capability. The district announced that it achieved the great success of being selected as the best (S) grade among Seoul districts in the ‘2023 Local Government Joint Evaluation.’

The Joint Evaluation of Local Governments, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is a system that evaluates the performance of major tasks carried out by metropolitan local governments over the year. Based on the Ministry’s evaluation results, Seoul evaluated the performance of 25 districts.

As a result, the district achieved 32 out of 40 quantitative evaluation indicators and received full marks in 8 out of 9 effort evaluation items, earning the highest score ever of 89.2 points and the honor of the best (S) grade.

With this achievement, the district will receive a financial incentive of 35 million KRW from Seoul City.

So far, the district has continuously worked to improve performance through monthly performance checks, focused management of underperforming indicators, staff training, and performance improvement meetings. As a result, it received excellent scores across all areas closely related to residents’ lives, including ▲public employment support service achievement rate ▲usage rate of national and public daycare centers ▲family capacity-building support rate ▲greenhouse gas reduction target achievement rate ▲strengthening safety management performance of local government-commissioned construction projects ▲discovery, support, and follow-up management of welfare blind spots and beneficiaries ▲improvement rate of local regulations restricting competition and consumer rights.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “Achieving the best grade in the Joint Evaluation of Local Governments, which consists of national policy tasks, is a recognition of the district’s excellent and high-level administrative capability and potential. We will not be complacent and will continue to focus all our efforts on improving the quality of life and convenience that residents can feel.”
