Sahmyook University Hosts International Conference '2023 ICISAA'

"Sharing Academic Inspiration with the World!" Theme
Leaders Forum, Academic Sessions, and Follow-up Academic Sessions Operated

Sahmyook University (President Kim Ilmok) will host the international academic conference '2023 ICISAA (International Conference of ISAA and Leaders Forum)'.

The '2023 ICISAA', held from the 8th to the 10th, is an international academic conference for academic exchange with 128 sister universities worldwide in celebration of Sahmyook University's 117th anniversary. It is the first international academic conference of the International Society for Academic Advancement (ISAA), which was founded last year under the leadership of Sahmyook University.


The theme of this conference is 'Sharing Academic Inspiration with the World'. It will be conducted in a hybrid format of in-person and online participation. Over 600 scholars, experts, researchers, and students from more than 40 countries will participate to engage in academic exchange.


The opening ceremony will begin on the 8th at the Hong Myungki Hall in the Yohang Building on campus, with the keynote speech delivered by Dr. Lisa Beersley-Hardy, Director of Education at the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. On the 9th, Dr. Richard Hart, President of Loma Linda University in the USA, and on the 10th, Dr. Yoo Jesung, Chief Director of Pittangi Clinic, will each take the podium for keynote speeches.


A Leaders Forum for presidents and administrative leaders of sister universities worldwide will also be held. The theme is 'Revival and Survival in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution'. Director Kim Doyeon of Taejae University (former President of POSTECH), CEO Kim Taeyoung of AI Factory, an artificial intelligence platform company, and CEO Choi Jinyoung, Korean consultant for Minerva University, will explore the future of university education in the 4th Industrial Revolution era and provide insights. Professor Lee Seunghyun of Loma Linda University will present on the topic 'SDA Educational Philosophy and Lifestyle Medicine'.


The academic sessions will be held in 16 sessions across six fields: humanities and social sciences, health sciences, science and technology, culture and arts, religion and theology, and scholarship and faith. Sixty-three scholars will participate to present on various topics. Major presentations include 'Convergent Research of Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence', 'Lifestyle Changes for Addiction Recovery', 'Intercultural Pragmatics and Communication', 'Social Welfare Services', 'Development of Management Theory and Practice', 'Physical Therapy for Movement and Health', 'Current Status of Pharmaceutical Research', 'Present and Future of Life Industry Research for Healthy Living', 'New Paradigm of Christian Mission in the Post-COVID Era', and 'Past, Present, and Future of Worship Music'.


Additionally, a poster presentation session will be organized. Not only academic research but also institutions, organizations, and individuals will communicate and exchange special activities and programs internationally. In the next-generation academic session, young researchers such as university and high school students will present diverse and creative research papers and project results.


Kim Ilmok, President of Sahmyook University (ISAA President), stated, "This international academic conference will provide a great opportunity for professors, researchers, and students worldwide to present research results, discuss topics of interest, and exchange ideas and information."
