An Min-seok: "Lee Jae-myung Not Running in General Election? Rather, Run in Jongno, the Political Hub"

"Lee, Hope to Lead Seoul Election by Running in Jongno"
Regarding Lee Jae-myung's Position, "Need to See Public Sentiment Until Chuseok"

On the 3rd, Ahn Min-seok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, addressed the ongoing speculation within political circles regarding the future of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party. He stated, "There is no possibility that Leader Lee will not run in the general election, and it would be a blunder with far more disadvantages than advantages," and suggested, "He should take a contrarian approach and run directly in Jongno, the political hotspot."

Appearing on YTN Radio's 'News King with Park Ji-hoon' that day, Ahn explained, "It could be an opportunity for Lee Jae-myung, as a politician, to wash away the burden of running in Gyeyang," adding, "Also, since Gyeonggi Province has a favorable electoral landscape, although we might lose a few seats, I believe we will at least maintain the basics. However, Seoul will be a very tough election, so someone needs to step up as a savior."

He continued, "If Leader Lee runs in Jongno, it would truly show a leader devoted to the party," and said, "If Leader Lee runs in Jongno, leads the Seoul election, and wins in Seoul, he will contribute as the top contributor to next year's election victory. This would significantly change Lee Jae-myung's political stature."

Regarding the rumors of "Leader Lee Jae-myung's resignation in October," Ahn said, "The possibility of Leader Lee's resignation is zero," but left room for consideration by adding, "Politics is a living thing, so we need to see the public sentiment until Chuseok."

Ahn stated, "Right now, the possibility of resignation seems zero, but since politics is a living thing, we don't know what might happen after Chuseok," and added, "There are nearly two months left, and if the Democratic Party's approval ratings remain stuck in a box range or fail to rise by then, the situation will become very precarious."

Ahn viewed that the Chuseok public sentiment could change depending on the Innovation Committee's achievements, Leader Lee's judicial risks, and whether he is detained. He said, "The Innovation Committee's performance is currently very poor, and if it continues to be criticized like this, the situation will become very precarious," and emphasized, "Above all, Leader Lee's judicial proceedings and their outcomes are the most important. Even if, by any chance, the prosecution intends to detain him, the entire situation will change."
