"Buy our seafood during the summer vacation season and receive Onnuri gift certificates!"
Busan City will hold a seafood discount event from the 3rd to August 6th at Jagalchi Modernized Market, Shindonga Seafood Complex Market, and Millak Hoe Town Market.
The seafood discount event is a campaign to promote seafood consumption by refunding up to 30% (maximum 20,000 KRW) of the purchase amount of domestic seafood in Onnuri gift certificates.
During the event period, customers who purchase seafood worth 34,000 KRW or more will receive a 10,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate, and those who purchase 67,000 KRW or more will receive a 20,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate.
The city is investing 230 million KRW for this event, and the event may end early once the allocated budget is fully used.
After purchasing products at about 380 domestic seafood stores within the event markets, customers can present the same-day purchase receipt at designated refund locations for each market to receive the refund in Onnuri gift certificates.
However, if a purchase receipt is not issued, the refund in Onnuri gift certificates cannot be received, so it is necessary to check in advance whether the store can issue a receipt.
To ensure the successful hosting of the event, on the first day, the 3rd, at 5:10 PM, Lee Seong-gwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, and Park Seong-hoon, Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, will visit Jagalchi Modernized Market.
On that day, Deputy Mayor Lee and Vice Minister Park will directly participate in the Onnuri gift certificate refund event, inspect the event site, and encourage merchants and related personnel.
They also plan to distribute promotional leaflets about "Safe Domestic Seafood" to consumers and merchants, purchase and donate domestic seafood sold in the market, and encourage the consumption of "Safe Domestic Seafood."
Lee Seong-gwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan City, said, "We ask for the active participation of citizens so that this seafood discount event can also help fishermen and merchants who are struggling due to concerns about reduced seafood consumption during the summer vacation season."
To promote the consumption of Busan seafood, the city held events such as the "Seafood Special Exhibition," "Seafood Sashimi Tasting Event," and "Seafood Win-Win Discount Direct Market" linked with the "2023 Busan Food Film Festa" in June and July, introducing and selling "safe" and "excellent" Busan seafood to citizens.
