Why Did Gwangjin-gu Send Chicken Cents for Malbok? Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin District

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the ‘Summer Survival in Gwangjin-gu’ event from the 3rd to the 8th.

On the 1st, as an unprecedented heatwave intensified and the heatwave crisis alert was raised to the severe level for the first time in four years, the district prepared this event to promote ways to enjoy a cool summer in Gwangjin-gu.

The participation method is simple. From the 3rd to the 8th, submit two photos via the Naver Form link: one showing ‘summer survival using Gwangjin-gu’s heatwave mitigation facilities’ and the other verifying subscription to the ‘Gwangjin-gu Office KakaoTalk channel.’

To beat the scorching heat, various heatwave mitigation facilities offering cool relief are located throughout Gwangjin-gu.

If you are exhausted from the sweltering heat, you can enjoy summer at ▲Jungnangcheon Water Playground ▲Ttukseom Hangang Park Swimming Pool ▲Children’s Hall Outdoor Pool (Seoul Leisure Park) ▲Seoul Children’s Grand Park Music Fountain ▲Ttukseom Hangang Park Music Fountain.

Additionally, you can cool down and rest at ▲Heatwave Shelters (106 locations including senior centers, community centers, civil defense education centers) ▲Smart Shade Shelters (53 locations) ▲Cooling Fog (3 locations) ▲Smart Rest Shelters (2 locations) ▲Gwangjin Water Stations (3 locations).

The winners will be announced on August 10. Among those selected by lottery, 80 people will receive chicken set exchange vouchers in celebration of Malbok.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We are operating various heatwave countermeasures to ensure that many residents can spend a safe and healthy summer,” and added, “We hope many will participate in the event while taking ample rest at the heatwave mitigation facilities.”
