Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is promoting the charm of Gochang as a city of history, cultural arts, and ecology by setting up a promotional pavilion at the 2023 World Scout Jamboree venue.
According to Gochang-gun on the 2nd, a promotional pavilion will be operated within the Delta Zone of the venue during the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree.
The Scout Jamboree is known as one of the three major global events alongside the Olympics and the World Cup.
It is an excellent opportunity to promote each region as about 40,000 domestic and international youths from over 170 countries, as well as diplomatic delegations and government officials including key VIPs, attend.
In the Delta Zone, visitors can enjoy diverse exhibition programs from 69 participating countries, and the general public who do not qualify to participate in the Jamboree can also visit.
Gochang-gun’s promotional pavilion is filled with the charm of Gochang as an ecotourism and healing city. It features professional explanations by cultural tourism guides, continuous screening of tourism promotional videos, and a photo exhibition of seven world treasures recognized by UNESCO.
In particular, a ‘Cultural Heritage Experience Corner’ is prepared, offering programs for youth visitors such as ▲ VR experience of dolmen sites ▲ making ‘Bandal Dolkal,’ a prehistoric farming tool ▲ creating 3D puzzles of Gochang’s representative tourist site, ‘Gochang Eupseong (Gochang Fortress).’
Various souvenirs will also be given through events such as the Gochang Quiz Show.
Kim Seong-geun, head of the Administrative Support Division of the county, said, “Even before the official opening, many outsiders showed interest in the photos of mudflats and dolmens and inquired about visiting Gochang,” adding, “We will operate this space to properly introduce the charm of Gochang, a World Heritage city, to countries around the world.”
