'Yeoninsan Premium Valley Trail' in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, ranked first in the 2nd round of the Premium Forest Trail Competition commemorating the 50th anniversary of national land greening, hosted by the Korea Forest Service.


According to Gyeonggi-do on the 2nd, the Korea Forest Service selected 20 premium forest trails, including Yeoninsan Premium Valley Trail, and officially posted them on the Korea Forest Service website on the 28th of last month. In addition to Yeoninsan Premium Valley Trail, Gyeonggi-do's Sorihyanggi Trail and Myeong-eon Ilgoga Trail (total 3 km), located in Nonnamgi-gil, Buk-myeon, Gapyeong, ranked 6th among the 20 trails.


Yeoninsan Premium Valley Trail is the best trekking course in the metropolitan area, proudly offered by Gyeonggi-do. It runs along a 4.7 km long valley, allowing anyone to enjoy the scenic beauty of Yeoninsan. Using 11 stepping stones and 1 suspension bridge placed over the valley, visitors can experience fantastic natural scenery throughout all four seasons.


On the Premium Valley Trail, visitors can encounter various attractions such as Yongchu Gugok, where a dragon twists up to the sky creating picturesque scenery; Seonnyeo Tang, where fairies are said to have descended and rested; Hwajeonmin Site, offering a glimpse into the lives of slash-and-burn farmers; and charcoal kiln sites.


In particular, Yongchu Gugok was recognized for its ecological and scenic preservation value and was designated as a 'National Forest Cultural Asset' in 2020. Yongchu Gugok consists of nine scenic spots: the first, Waryongchu; the second, Musongam, a small swimming pool-like area; the third, Takyeongnoe, where waves flow with sound like rapids; the fourth, Goseultan; the fifth, Ilsadae, providing depth and coolness; the sixth, Chuwoldam, where moonlight is reflected in a calm pool; the seventh, Cheongpunghyeop, a maple valley emitting blue and red hues; the eighth, Gwiyuyeon, shaped like a turtle lying in a deep pond; and the ninth and final, the tranquil Nongwon-gye. The walking time takes about 2 hours.


To visit Yeoninsan Provincial Park Premium Valley Trail, take a bus from Gapyeong Station and get off at the Yongchu bus terminal, or by car, find the parking lot at the Visitor Center located at 229-41 Yongchu-ro, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.


Meanwhile, the first round of the Premium Forest Trail Competition for good walking trails was held in February, with two trails from Gyeonggi-do selected: Gapyeong Jat-hyanggi Phytoncide Trail and Gimpo Munsusan Hiking Trail.
