Co-hosted by Seongbuk-gu Cooperative Council and Seongbuk-gu Village Social Economy Center
A Place for Sharing Cases, Solidarity, and Networking with Seongbuk-gu Cooperatives
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro), the Seongbuk-gu Cooperative Council, and the Seongbuk-gu Village Social Economy Center commemorated the 2023 Cooperative Day by holding 'Story Talk Talk: Enjoyable Cooperative Life' on the 27th of last month at the 4th floor Art Hall of Seongbuk-gu Office.
This event, themed “Partners for Sustainable Villages, the Power of Cooperation,” served as a foundation for Seongbuk-gu cooperatives to share various cases, build solidarity, and continue cooperative living.
The event began with a geomungo performance by the theater group Yemorigi from Village 369, followed by sharing stories under the theme “Cooperative Exploration Life” from “Transition Village Eunpyeong” and “Seongbuk Sinna.” Under the theme “Seongbuk Talk Talk! Our Stories,” the Seongbuk-gu Cooperative Council and Seongbuk Social Value Practice Solidarity presented case studies. In “Connect! Cooperative World,” a “Wagle Wagle Network Party” was held to exchange ideas for sustainable cooperatives.
In celebration of Cooperative Day on July 1st, Seongbuk-gu held various events for residents during Cooperative Week (June 26 to July 7). These included “Cooperative Treasure Hunt!” where residents visited cooperatives in Seongbuk-gu to collect stamps, and “Seongbuk Basket - Let’s Do It Together,” introducing various local cooperatives.
This “Story Talk Talk” event was jointly planned by the Seongbuk-gu Cooperative Council and the Seongbuk-gu Village Social Economy Center in connection with Cooperative Week events, marking the significance of cooperative actors creating a space for collaboration themselves.
So far, Seongbuk-gu has enacted the Seongbuk-gu Cooperative Activation Ordinance to promote cooperatives, operated “Cooperative Village School” education for residents, and held various “Cooperative Week Events” commemorating Cooperative Day. Furthermore, it actively supports cooperative establishment and the transition of cooperatives into social economy organizations through tailored consulting services.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Cooperatives are an important means for villages to grow and recover together, and they are essential organizations to make our region a better place to live.” He added, “Through this event, I hope Seongbuk-gu cooperatives communicate and unite on the ground to grow further, revitalizing cooperatives and the social economy, and becoming a model local government for others.”
