Yoon Meets with Belize Prime Minister to Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Agriculture and Security

Returning to Korea Two Months After May Visit... Appreciation for Support in Health, Education, and Development Sectors

President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Belize Prime Minister John Brice?o on the 1st to discuss practical cooperation between the two countries. They agreed to expand collaboration in various fields such as agriculture, public safety, and e-government.


On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon held a meeting with Prime Minister Brice?o, who was visiting Korea at the invitation of Busan City, at the Presidential Office building in Yongsan, Seoul, exchanging views on the development of bilateral relations and cooperation on the international stage.

President Yoon welcomed Prime Minister Brice?o, who returned to Korea two months after his visit in May, and expressed hope that exchanges between the two countries would further increase as Korean tourists actively visit Belize, which boasts excellent tourist attractions such as the Great Blue Hole and coral reefs. In response, Prime Minister Brice?o said, "I am pleased to experience firsthand Korea's remarkable economic development," and expressed gratitude for Korea's support in healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as assistance in education and development sectors.


The two leaders agreed to expand trade and investment between their countries, specifically in the fields of agriculture, public safety, and e-government. In particular, Prime Minister Brice?o requested Korea's support for the digitalization of land transaction management in Belize and the establishment of an international electronic identification system for Belizean citizens.


Meanwhile, President Yoon asked for the Belize government's interest and support for the 2030 Busan World Expo, which will serve as a solution platform to discuss and propose alternatives and visions for the complex crises facing humanity, as well as a venue for forming a dense global network of exchanges.
