Gyeongbuk Sangju City (Mayor Kang Young-seok) announced that the ‘Sangju Bukcheon Electric Vehicle Charging Station,’ where 16 chargers are gathered at once along the roadside near Muyang LH Apartment, was opened on the 28th of last month.
Sangju City has been carrying out the project since 2021 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality after being selected for the Smart Green City creation project announced by the Ministry of Environment. Along the roadside near Muyang LH Apartment, 16 fast chargers (200 kW) for electric vehicles have been installed to respond to the rapidly increasing charging demand.
The 200 kW fast charger can fully charge an Ioniq 6 in just 20 minutes. Additionally, a smart pergola has been installed to provide users with a place to rest while charging, and nearby Bukcheon walking trails and Muyang shopping district are also accessible.
The Smart Green City project is a Ministry of Environment public contest project aimed at building a climate and environment-centered urban model and realizing a sustainable future environmental city where humans and nature coexist. With a total project cost of 16.7 billion KRW, it involves investing in climate resilience (Clean Road, Cooling Fog), water circulation (vegetation retention basin, green infrastructure, ecological stream), future vehicles (electric vehicle charging infrastructure), and smart ecological education facilities.
Among the Smart Green City projects, the Cooling Fog and electric vehicle charging infrastructure construction projects were completed last month, and the Clean Road and ecological stream creation projects are scheduled to be completed in October.
