Beautiful Scholarship Partnership with Village Fund
Residents of Geumha Village in Doksan 1-dong Donate 10 Million Won to Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on July 31 that it donated 10 million won from the village fund of Doksan 1-dong’s ‘e-Geumha Village’ to the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation, a foundation corporation.
‘e-Geumha Village’ refers to an energy self-sufficient village where residents voluntarily participate in energy transition projects. The ‘e’ stands for energy, environment & ecology, and education.
The donation ceremony was held in the small conference room of Geumcheon-gu Office. A total of 14 people attended, including Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, Park Jun-sik, Chairman of the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation, and Geumha Village residents Kwon Oh-hoon, Park Chan-moon, and Oh Hoe-ok.
Geumha Village was selected in 2018 for the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project (Our Neighborhood Revitalization type). It carries out various projects such as kimchi sharing, village childcare classes, and noodle sharing for the elderly, creating a village where three generations can live together harmoniously.
Additionally, the Geumha Village Residents’ Council promoted energy transition linked with community revitalization and residential environment improvement projects, and was selected in 2020 as an excellent national energy transition case (citizen organization category).
The residents of Geumha Village agreed at a village meeting to participate in the beautiful scholarship partnership. Residents attending the meeting said, “It is meaningful as a form of sharing by adults for future generations.”
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We thank the residents of Geumha Village for practicing neighborly sharing,” and added, “We will ensure that the scholarship funds are well delivered to the talents who will lead Geumcheon-gu.”
