Gwanak-gu Simplifies Large Waste Disposal Methods

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will simplify and make the large waste disposal reporting process more convenient starting August 1.

The average number of large waste disposal reports in Gwanak-gu over the past three years exceeds 250,000, with 63% of these reports made by visiting community service centers.

To eliminate the inconvenience of visiting local community centers for reporting, the district operates a call center that allows residents to complete disposal reporting with just one phone call. The fee can be paid by receiving a virtual account number via text message.

Additionally, online reporting, which was previously available on the Gwanak-gu website, has been expanded with the launch of the ‘Gwanak-gu Large Waste Disposal Reporting’ site. Residents can also access the site via QR code using their mobile phones, enhancing convenience for citizens.

The district also improves the clarity of waste processing procedures. Previously, there was no notification of processing results after large waste disposal reporting, but with changes to the computerized system, residents will now be notified when large waste collection is completed.

Along with this, to prevent safety accidents for workers during large waste collection, the working hours will be changed. Previously, collection was done from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m., but starting August 1, collection will be conducted during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

When disposing of waste, residents should write the receipt number on the waste. Collectors will verify this and collect the waste within 24 hours from the disposal date.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “We expect that the installation of the large waste disposal reporting call center will eliminate the inconvenience of visiting community centers to report.” He added, “We will promptly collect and process large waste and create a ‘pleasant and clean living environment in Gwanak.’”
