Bicycle Repair at Resident Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul

Gangseo-gu in Seoul will operate a 'Mobile Bicycle Repair Center' until the end of November.

The service offers affordable repair options to residents who ride bicycles, aiming to promote bicycle use for personal health improvement and carbon neutrality.

Experts participating in the local community job project will assist with tire puncture repairs, brake and gear adjustments, and more.

If repairs such as brake or handle adjustments do not require parts replacement, the service is free of charge. However, if parts need to be replaced, the cost will be borne by the customer.

The service targets everyday bicycles; mountain bikes and professional bicycles are excluded.

The center will operate at 20 community centers, providing service four times per district from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM for 5 hours each session until November 29.

Work may be suspended during heatwaves or rainy weather.

Last year, the district repaired 730 bicycles, and over 340 bicycles in the first half of this year, expecting many residents to use the service in the second half as well.

Detailed operation schedules can be found on the Gangseo-gu Office website (Nuri-jip) under Gangseo News - Notices/News.

All repair fee revenues from the center will be used for the year-end Warm Winter Campaign.

A district official stated, “Providing repair services encourages bicycle use and receives high satisfaction from residents. We will actively support safe and comfortable use of bicycles, a transportation means that protects health and the environment.”
