Jungnang-gu Conducts ‘Memory Friend Leader Training’ for About 50 Local Residents

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held a ‘Memory Friend Leader Training’ for about 50 local residents on the 27th.

‘Memory Friends’ are volunteers who acquire accurate knowledge about dementia through training and assist dementia patients and their families in the community. ‘Memory Friend Leaders’ are individuals who conduct training sessions for Memory Friends at least once a year.

This training consisted of ▲medical understanding of dementia ▲how to interact with dementia patients and their families ▲guidance and practice for Memory Friend Leader activities. The 50 residents who completed the training are expected to become Memory Friend Leaders and actively promote the training of Memory Friends.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Memory Friend Leaders will take the lead in helping dementia patients and their families in the community live stable lives and in making Jungnang-gu a better place to live. I thank all the residents for working together to create a happy and livable Jungnang-gu.”

The district has been actively encouraging the activities of local Memory Friend Leaders, having won awards such as the grand prize at the ‘Seoul Metropolitan City Memory Friend Leader Competition’ in 2020 and 2022, and the grand prize at the ‘Memory Friend UCC Contest’ in 2021.
