Seungro Lee, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Conducts ‘On-site Visit’ for Summer Safety Inspection on July 27
Visits to Sewer Pipeline Improvement Construction, Heatwave Water Cooler Installation Site, and Damaged Hazardous Facility
Listens to Residents’ Opinions on Site and Gives Inspection Instructions to Relevant Departments
Seungro Lee, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, conducted a ‘Summer Safety Inspection’ on the 27th in preparation for heatwaves and typhoons.
He visited ▲ the sewer pipeline improvement construction site at 49 Jeongneung-ro 10da-gil ▲ the resting bench installation site at 928 Jeongneung-dong ▲ the heatwave water cooler installation site ▲ and the damaged outer wall site of the old Sunggok Market.
The ‘on-site visit’ is an initiative that Mayor Seungro Lee has been steadily implementing since 2018, the first year of the 7th local government term, to directly visit residents’ living areas, assess the current situation, gather residents’ opinions, and solve problems.
Together with staff from relevant departments, Mayor Seungro Lee first visited the ‘sewer pipeline improvement construction site’ in Jeongneung-dong to check the progress of the construction.
While inspecting the approximately 300-meter construction section, Mayor Lee promised to immediately check the site and find a solution when residents at the sewer pipeline improvement site requested the installation of heating cables.
Next, he visited the ‘resting bench installation site’ to confirm the completion of the resting benches that local residents had wished for. Residents resting on the benches expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you for providing a comfortable space where residents can gather.”
At the ‘heatwave water cooler installation site,’ he encouraged the water cooler attendants. He also discussed possible solutions with the responsible department and local residents regarding secondary complaints that could arise from the water cooler, such as littering. Additionally, when Mayor Lee encountered daycare children visiting the Seongbuk Ecological Learning Center for experiential learning, he distributed water to help them cool down from the heat.
The last site visited was the ‘old Sunggok Market,’ a building classified as a hazardous facility, where part of the outer wall was recently damaged, causing damage to nearby houses. After thoroughly inspecting the damage site, Mayor Lee urged the responsible department to “swiftly remove any potentially falling debris accumulated on the building rooftop before heavy rain and typhoons arrive, and to take special care to prevent further damage.”
Seongbuk-gu plans to continue conducting on-site visits to create a ‘safe Seongbuk even in summer.’
