China has condemned Japan's recent defense white paper, published this year, for pointing out that China's military activities threaten peace in the Taiwan Strait, labeling it as interference in internal affairs.

Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 28th that Japan's defense white paper "slanders China's normal national defense development and naval and air force activities," and criticized it as "an act of exaggerating China's threat to create tension in the regional situation."

Mao further expressed, "China strongly objects and firmly opposes this, and has lodged a serious representation with Japan."

Regarding the Taiwan issue, Mao said, "Taiwan is Chinese territory, and the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair; no external forces' interference will be tolerated," adding, "The claim of a military balance across the Taiwan Strait is a complete lie."

Mao also pointed out, "Japan should reflect on its historical crimes against the Chinese people concerning the Taiwan issue," and criticized, "Due to its history of militaristic foreign aggression, Japan's military and security developments are receiving high attention from Asian neighboring countries and the international community."

Meanwhile, Japan's defense white paper this year noted that China has increased powerful military activities around Taiwan, raising international concerns about peace and security in the Taiwan Strait.
