Sinchon is Currently Under Branding...

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 28th that it is promoting a 'Local Brand Workshop' for the Sinchon commercial district, which was selected as a target area for the 'Seoul Local Brand Commercial District Strengthening Project' in March this year.


The Seoul Local Brand Commercial District Strengthening Project aims to increase domestic and international visitors by adding global elements and infrastructure while preserving the existing identity of well-known commercial alleys.


The Sinchon Local Brand Commercial District Strengthening Project targets the area from Yonsei-ro 13-gil to Yonsei-ro 5-da-gil.


The goal is to create Seoul’s representative K-alley by building unique Sinchon branding and content through collaboration among old and new stores reflecting Sinchon’s characteristics, music and cultural spaces, local creators, and related organizations.


This workshop is the first step for 'Establishing the Local Brand Vision and Basic Plan' and is being held once a week until August 10 at the Sinchon-dong Commercial Association (Basement, 22 Yonsei-ro 5-da-gil) with participation from merchants interested in revitalizing the Sinchon commercial district.


The total of eight sessions include lectures and discussions on ▲Understanding Local Branding ▲Understanding Sinchon Commercial District and Surrounding Popular Commercial Areas ▲Exploring User Preferences of Sinchon Commercial District ▲Finding Brand Vision and Branding Execution Strategies.


Workshop participants stated, “Establishing the concept of local branding, encountering various cases, and engaging in discussions have been very helpful in preparing for branding and business plan development.”


After this workshop, in the second half of this year, the establishment of the local brand commercial district vision and basic plan, formation of a commercial district council, and establishment of a consultation system will follow, with the project expected to be fully implemented from 2024 to 2025.


Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “Since the Sinchon Local Brand Commercial District Strengthening Project is a collaborative effort among merchants, residents, local stakeholders, and the district office, great results are expected.”
