Nongshim announced that it will release a limited edition 'Shin Ramyun The Red' on the 14th of next month, which has an enhanced spiciness compared to Shin Ramyun. Shin Ramyun The Red has a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) of 7,500, more than double the 3,400 SHU of the original Shin Ramyun, and even higher than 'Angry Neoguri' (6,080 SHU), the spiciest product currently sold by Nongshim. Nongshim developed Shin Ramyun The Red considering the recent increase in consumers' standards for spiciness.


Shin Ramyun The Red was developed with a focus on maintaining the original identity of Shin Ramyun’s 'delicious spiciness' while satisfying consumers who desire a spicier taste. The amount of Cheongyang chili peppers was increased to intensify the spiciness, while ingredients that enhance the rich umami of the broth, such as beef and shiitake mushrooms, were reinforced to create a deeper and richer soup flavor.


In particular, the seasoning powder added after cooking includes aromatic ingredients such as Cheongyang chili peppers, black pepper, garlic, and onion, which complement Shin Ramyun’s unique umami to create a distinctive spicy flavor. Additionally, the amount of dried ingredients like shiitake mushrooms and bok choy was increased to more than double that of the original Shin Ramyun, allowing for a more abundant experience.


A Nongshim representative said, “With Shin Ramyun The Red, we aim to set a new standard for delicious spiciness,” adding, “We expect to satisfy consumers who enjoy Shin Ramyun but are looking for a spicier taste.”
