Recruiting 30 Participants for the 3rd Session on a First-Come, First-Served Basis Until July 31
Experience Nature in the City Through Pet Plants and Vegetable Growing
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is receiving positive feedback from residents for its ‘Green Life’ program, which is operated to provide emotional stability for single-person households.
This year, the district focused on discovering programs that reflect various themes and topics of interest to single-person households by conducting surveys and interviews to offer creative and new services targeting the increasing number of single-person households.
As a result, since May, the district has newly launched ‘Green Life,’ a program that allows single-person households from their 20s to 60s to participate, providing opportunities to experience growing pet plants and vegetables, helping participants feel nature within the urban environment.
‘Green Life,’ which runs for six months until November with six sessions (one session per month), offers ‘Green for the Mind’ during odd-numbered sessions, where participants alleviate depression and loneliness with pet plants, and ‘Green for Health’ during even-numbered sessions, where participants grow pet vegetables and develop healthy eating habits. At the last meeting of each session, participants engage in plogging activities?walking around Gwanak-gu’s landmarks while picking up trash?called ‘Green for the Neighborhood.’
Additionally, the district is recruiting 30 participants for the 3rd session of ‘Green Life’ on a first-come, first-served basis until July 31. The program runs from August 9 to August 26, and applicants must be single-person households or prospective single-person households residing in Gwanak-gu. Participation is free of charge.
To apply, visit the Seoul Single-Person Household Portal or the Gwanak-gu website (Course/Event Reservation) and submit the application via the Google Form link.
A resident who participated in Green Life shared, “Sharing the positive feelings I experienced while growing plants with other participants helped me relieve a lot of stress.”
An official from the district stated, “We will continue to do our best to operate various projects by understanding the needs and demands of single-person households.”
