Intel Expands Collaboration with Ericsson to Build Future 5G Infrastructure Together

Intel partners with Ericsson to develop products for future 5G infrastructure.


Semiconductor specialist Intel announced on the 27th that it will produce customized 5G system-on-chips (SoCs) for Ericsson to create leading and differentiated products for future 5G infrastructure. Intel plans to leverage its cutting-edge 18A process technology and manufacturing capabilities to develop the technologies needed for Ericsson's next-generation 5G infrastructure.


Additionally, both companies intend to continuously synchronize network specifications as part of a single global standard and collaborate with other leading technology firms to provide benefits to customers.


Sachin Katti, Senior Vice President of Intel's Network and Edge (NEX) division, stated, "Broad collaboration with Ericsson to optimize next-generation 5G infrastructure is a significant milestone," adding, "It will strengthen customer trust in Intel's process and manufacturing technologies."


Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Ericsson Networks, said, "We are pleased to manufacture future customized 5G SoCs on Intel's 18A process node through our collaboration with Intel," noting, "This aligns with Ericsson's long-term strategy and will contribute to building a more robust and sustainable supply chain."
