Cargo Directly Transferred from Dedicated Line Warehouse to BCT
Stable Unloading Possible Regardless of Weather Variables
Sampyo Cement is introducing a 'dedicated cement vessel' in Jeju.
On the 27th, Sampyo Cement announced that it will deploy a dedicated vessel for cement maritime transportation at Jeju Port.
With an investment of 4 billion KRW, a dedicated vessel and related facilities were established to prevent cement dust that may occur during loading and unloading. Cement can now be transferred directly from the sealed cargo hold of the dedicated vessel to the product transport vehicle, the Bulk Cement Trailer (BCT), via a loader. This is advantageous as it prevents the scattering of cement dust.
The introduction of the dedicated vessel is expected to create an environment where operations can be carried out efficiently. Loading and unloading can be done with minimal personnel, and the required time can be shortened. It is also anticipated that congestion at the dock caused by waiting BCT vehicles will improve.
With the adoption of sealed loading and unloading facilities, cement can be stably handled regardless of rain or strong winds. General cargo ships had issues with smooth loading and unloading operations depending on weather conditions.
A Sampyo Cement official said, “We are strengthening our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system through investments such as the deployment of the dedicated cement vessel and various related activities. We will continue to improve the logistics environment to ensure stable and efficient cement supply in the Jeju area in preparation for future increases in cement demand.”
