On the 26th, Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, visited Hyochang Park and Eungbong Park to conduct an on-site inspection of the urban temporary water playgrounds. This safety preparation was made ahead of the outdoor water playgrounds' opening, which will operate from the 28th to August 10.
The inspection focused on whether play, electrical, and water facilities were properly installed and if there were any hazards during use. Circuit breakers, water pipes, and available fire extinguishers were carefully examined. Safety measures such as sandbags to prepare for heavy rain and strong winds were also checked.
Mayor Park Hee-young repeatedly urged that efforts be made in safety management, including facility inspections, safety personnel management, and maintaining emergency contact networks, so that visitors can use the water playground facilities safely.
A district official explained, “Fifteen operational staff members, including safety managers and nursing assistants, will be assigned per water playground.” They also added, “Water will be replaced and disinfected daily, and simple water quality tests will be conducted frequently.”
Visitors can use the urban temporary water playgrounds free of charge at two locations: Hyochang Park and Eungbong Park. Children aged 36 months to 13 years old are eligible to use the facilities. However, preschool children must be accompanied by a guardian to enter.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To prevent safety accidents, visitors play in the water for 45 minutes followed by a 15-minute break. There is a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. To maintain order and water quality, the number of simultaneous users is limited (130 at Hyochang Park, 120 at Eungbong Park).
Visitors can enjoy water play facilities such as air pools, air slides, fountain tunnels, play bounces, and bubble foam machines. Special programs like bubble shows, magic shows, and CPR education are also prepared.
Mayor Park Hee-young of Yongsan-gu said, “The children's summer water playground, opening for the first time in four years since 2019, prioritizes hygiene and safety,” and added, “We will focus on facility operation so that residents can safely and comfortably beat the summer heat in a high-quality resting space.”
Meanwhile, from 2017 to 2019, a total of 20,465 people visited the urban temporary water playgrounds operated by the district to enjoy summer relief.
