On the 26th, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, participated in the 'Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge' to promote a culture of donation in the local community and mutual growth among local governments.

This challenge began on January 5 under the Hometown Love Donation Act, aiming to foster a healthy donation culture for one’s hometown and revitalize the local economy. It proceeds by having members of the National Assembly or local government heads post donation photos on SNS and then nominate the next participant.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung joined the challenge on the 21st after being nominated by Kim Chang-gyu, Mayor of Jecheon City. He completed certification of donation delivery to 13 sister cities (Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi; Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi; Chuncheon-si, Gangwon; Jecheon-si, Chungbuk; Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk; Cheongyang-gun, Chungnam; Buan-gun, Jeonbuk; Naju-si, Jeonnam; Boseong-gun, Jeonnam; Buan-gun, Jeonbuk; Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk; Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk; Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk; Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam) and nominated Choi Young-il, Governor of Sunchang County, as the next challenger.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “I am very pleased to participate in this challenge for the successful establishment of the Hometown Love Donation Program,” adding, “I hope many people join the hometown love donation to contribute to the development of their regions.”

The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate a certain amount to local governments other than their registered address, offering up to 30% in return gifts and tax deduction benefits based on the donation amount, with a maximum annual donation limit of 5 million KRW.

On March 30, Dongdaemun District selected return gifts such as Ogok Gangjeong (five-grain snack), Red Ginseng Cheonma Tea, Ssanghwa Stick, Hong Doraji Stick, Juak, Kyeoyakgwa, Doraji Jeonggwa, and Dongdaemun District Love Gift Certificates. Donors can choose their desired return gifts after donating through ‘Hometown Love e-um’.
