60 Daegu City Council Members and Secretariat Staff Visit Yonggung-myeon, Yecheon-gun to Sweat Over Flood Recovery Efforts

About 60 members of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, including council members and Secretariat staff, visited Hoeryongpo area in Yonggung-myeon, Yecheon-gun, which suffered severe damage from the heavy rain on the 26th, to support recovery efforts.


On the day, Lee Mankyu, Chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, Lee Young-ae, Vice Chairman, and other Daegu council members along with Secretariat staff visited Yonggung-myeon, where residents were struggling due to flood damage, to comfort the locals and contribute to recovery support activities.

Daegu Metropolitan Council members and Secretariat staff visited jujube farms in the flood-affected area, removing damaged vinyl and steel frames from greenhouses destroyed by the heavy rain, and clearing foreign substances such as crops and soil, adding much-needed manpower and working hard on recovery efforts.


At the site, Lee Mankyu, Chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, met with Bae Han-cheol, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, Choi Byung-wook, Chairman of the Yecheon County Council, and Lee Dal-hee, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeongbuk Province, to hear about the damage status in Gyeongbuk Province and promised active support from the Daegu Metropolitan Council for the affected areas.


Yecheon-gun suffered unfortunate casualties and numerous facility damages such as road flooding due to the recent heavy rain, and many residents have yet to return home and are still staying in evacuation shelters.


Lee Mankyu, Chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, said, “I extend my deepest condolences to the disaster victims who are in despair due to the recent heavy rain damage. We will always lend our support whenever it helps the affected residents of Gyeongbuk Province to return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
