"Had Inflammation but Tried Waxing... Truly a Nuisance" Excessive Mockery and Sexual Harassment Controversy

A Story of Being Insulted After Visiting a Certain Business in Gyeonggi-do
"Severe Misunderstanding of Vaginitis... Public Discussion for the Public Interest"

A woman suffering from chronic vaginitis visited a waxing shop in Gyeonggi Province and was reportedly insulted by the owner, sparking controversy.

On the 26th, Ms. A shared text message (SMS) conversations with the waxing shop owner, Mr. B, on her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

According to the released chat screenshots, when Ms. A said, "I couldn't confirm if I have vaginitis. I will not make a reservation. Sorry," Mr. B replied, "You were going to make a reservation even though you have vaginitis? Please refrain from using not only our place but others as well. This is a real nuisance."

The earlier part of the conversation was not disclosed, but it appears that Ms. A canceled her reservation after realizing that patients with vaginitis are restricted from using the waxing shop.

Mr. B, the owner, criticized Ms. A, saying, "You were going to make a reservation even though you have vaginitis? Please refrain from using not only our place but others as well. You are an adult, so get treated quickly and then use the waxing shop. This is a real nuisance. You can't even manage yourself properly, so what are you doing waxing?"

After Mr. B sent a lengthy scolding message, Ms. A responded, "I wanted to get waxing because treatment for vaginitis didn't work. The practitioner just needs to wear gloves and wash hands properly, disinfect the shop's facilities, and discard used items. Why treat vaginitis like a sexually transmitted disease? It can occur even without frequent sexual activity and might simply be stress-related. Don't treat people in a way that makes them feel bad."

Not stopping there, Mr. B escalated the situation with mocking and sexually harassing remarks. He said, "Are you stupid? The order is to go to the gynecologist to treat vaginitis first, then visit the waxing shop. Consider yourself embarrassed. There are posts on the practitioners' cafe saying they almost vomited because of customers like you."

Ms. A announced that she would publicize this incident for the public interest. She said, "If I had known I would be treated like this and insulted, I wouldn't have made a reservation. The unreasonable behavior and attitude, slander, lack of understanding about vaginitis, and even threatening to disclose personal information online to disparage someone who said they wouldn't make a reservation. I can't stand it anymore, so I'm posting this." At the same time, she revealed the shop's name and phone number.

After Ms. A's post was shared online, Mr. B threatened, "Let's meet at the police station. I am suffering huge damage from terrible phone harassment. Are you confident you can handle the consequences?" He said he would sue for disclosure of personal information, obstruction of business, and defamation by stating facts. He also claimed, "What's wrong with refusing customers with vaginitis because it bothers me in my business? I have the right to refuse customers."

Ms. A said she would countersue the owner for using telecommunications to commit obscenity. She added, "There is no discharge or smell, just itching. I clearly said I would cancel the reservation, but I got angry because of personal attacks and insulting treatment, not because of refusal of service."

Netizens responded, "Do they even know what vaginitis is?", "It used to happen often because of vaginitis stockings, but the owner is too low-class," and "I wouldn't want to be managed by such a thoughtless owner."

Vaginitis, also called the 'female cold'... unrelated to promiscuous sexual activity

In fact, vaginitis is a common condition so prevalent it is called the female cold. It can occur in any woman and is not solely caused by sexual activity.

During hot and humid weather, prolonged exposure to air conditioning can worsen ‘leukorrhea,’ a condition where vaginal discharge is excessive.

Leukorrhea refers to vaginal discharge, and when the amount is abnormally high, it is called leukorrhea syndrome. In summer, hot and humid weather can disrupt the balance of the cervix and vagina, causing leukorrhea syndrome. It is common for symptoms to worsen after prolonged exposure to air conditioning or sitting on cold floors for extended periods.

The most common cause of leukorrhea syndrome is vaginitis. Vaginitis is a mild and common condition that most women experience at least once.
