Korea National Park Service Investigation... "Visitors Urged to Descend Quickly"
500mm Heavy Rainfall from 14th to 18th
Authorities launched an investigation after receiving a report of signs of a landslide near the hiking trails of Sogrisan in Boeun-gun, Chungbuk.
According to the Sogrisan Office of the Korea National Park Service on the 26th, at around 9:30 a.m., a report was received from the Beopjusa~Sesimjeong trail stating, "We heard a sound like the ground was rumbling and witnessed bubbles rising from the bottom of the reservoir."
The Park Service and Boeun-gun immediately closed all Sogrisan hiking trails and dispatched an inspection team to the site to check for abnormal signs.
Additionally, Boeun-gun sent out a safety alert message at 11:30 a.m. to inform the public of the situation.
A representative from the Sogrisan Office said, "We are hastening the evacuation of hikers and conducting joint inspections with Boeun-gun," adding, "We will keep the trails closed until safety is confirmed."
Nearly 500mm of heavy rain fell in the Sogrisan area from the 14th to the 18th.
