26 Extensive Coverages Supporting the Daily Lives of Affected Residents
Gohung-gun, Jeonnam Province (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that it will strengthen public awareness to ensure residents can receive compensation for damages caused by the heavy rain concentrated during this monsoon season through the "Resident Safety Insurance" currently being implemented for all residents.
The "Resident Safety Insurance" is a system that provides insurance payments through an insurance company contracted with Gohung-gun in case of an accident. All residents are eligible beneficiaries, and any Gohung resident is automatically enrolled without any separate procedures. Compensation can also overlap with personal insurance in the event of an accident.
The main coverage items include ▲death by natural disaster injury ▲death or permanent disability due to explosion, fire (including lightning), or collapse injury accidents ▲drowning death, among a total of 26 items. Damage caused by the heavy rain concentrated during this monsoon season is also covered by each item.
To claim insurance, when a claim reason occurs, the affected resident or legal heir can apply to the Korea Local Finance Association Customer Call Center (1577-5939) by attaching relevant supporting documents (insurance claim form, resident registration certificate or abstract, accident certificate, etc.). The claim expiration period is three years from the date of the accident.
A county official stated, "The heavy rain concentrated in our county this time raises concerns about residents' damages," and added, "Since the Resident Safety Insurance system is being operated to help stabilize residents' lives, we will do our best to promote and guide so that residents who have suffered damages can receive benefits."
