Gangnam-gu Provides 60 Million Won Support to Flood-Affected Goesan-gun, Cheongyang-gun, and Yeongju-si

Gangnam-gu Donates 60 Million KRW in Flood Recovery Funds and Supplies to Three Sister Cities

On the 25th, a delegation visited three sister cities?Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do; Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do; and Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do?delivering 20 million KRW each

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) delivered a total of 60 million KRW in donations and supplies on the 25th to support the swift recovery of three sister cities (Goesan-gun, Cheongyang-gun, Yeongju-si) severely affected by the recent heavy rains.

Since the heavy rains began on the 9th, a total of 13 areas nationwide have been declared special disaster zones. Gangnam-gu, together with the Gangnam Welfare Foundation, decided to provide 20 million KRW each in donations or supplies to the three sister cities most severely affected, totaling 60 million KRW.

The district formed a delegation led by the Director of the Administrative Bureau and the Director of the Welfare Bureau, which visited Goesan-gun (Governor Song In-heon) in Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheongyang-gun (Governor Kim Don-gon) in Chungcheongnam-do, and Yeongju-si (Mayor Park Nam-seo) in Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 25th to deliver the donations and supplies. The funds and supplies provided will be used for flood recovery and emergency relief efforts in each region.

Last March, Gangnam-gu also supported Donghae-si with 30 million KRW in donations for wildfire recovery. Additionally, in August 2020, the district provided emergency relief supplies to three sister and friendship cities affected by heavy rain damage, supporting recovery efforts for residents impacted by natural disasters in these sister and friendship cities.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “On behalf of the residents of Gangnam-gu, I extend my deepest condolences to the residents of our sister cities who suffered from the sudden heavy rains,” and added, “I hope the recovery is completed quickly so that everyone can return to their daily lives.”
