Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it has installed ‘Songpa-type Smart Poles’ at six locations within the district to resolve illegal parking around Jamsil Sports Complex and create a safe living environment.

The ‘Smart Pole’ is an intelligent urban infrastructure that integrates smart service functions such as intelligent CCTV and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors with streetlights, enhancing city aesthetics, protecting residents’ safety, and alleviating daily inconveniences.

Accordingly, to enhance competitiveness as a cutting-edge city, the district installed ‘Songpa-type Smart Poles’ for the first time at six major locations with heavy foot traffic and multi-use facilities, commencing full operation from July 10. A district official stated, “We selected necessary functions for each location by reflecting the surrounding environment and conditions through prior on-site inspections.”

First, ‘Parking Enforcement CCTV Smart Poles’ were intensively installed around the Jamsil Sports Complex area, Els (photo), and Risence Apartment area. Through strengthened illegal parking enforcement and monitoring, it is expected to resolve chronic daily inconveniences for residents.

Additionally, the district installed ‘Security CCTV Smart Poles’ along the roads in front of Jeongsin Girls’ Middle School and Aju Middle School, carefully ensuring the safety of local youths on their way to and from school.

Furthermore, the district plans to enhance resident safety by integrating various advanced technologies with CCTV monitoring. The ‘Multi-Crowd Fusion and Analysis System,’ which analyzes crowd situations in real time to prevent safety accidents, and the ‘Real-Time Disaster Situation Video Information Sharing System,’ which immediately transmits disaster situations to disaster managers at the Songpa CCTV Integrated Control Center, are scheduled to begin operation in August.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Rapid response by related agencies in the event of disasters or emergencies is a critical factor that can determine residents’ safety in a moment’s notice.” He added, “We will continue to actively introduce cutting-edge technologies into district administration to resolve residents’ inconveniences and create a safe city of Songpa for our citizens.”
