Jeonnam Fire Department, Fully Mobilizes All Resources to Minimize Damage from Heavy Rainfall

Jeonnam Fire Department is making all-out efforts to minimize damage from the heavy rain that has continued in the Jeonnam region since last weekend.


According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 24th, as of 3 p.m. that day, a total of 252 emergency rescue reports were received. They rescued 10 people and took safety measures in 233 cases.

Since the 22nd, the Jeonnam Fire Department Chief and the heads of 22 fire stations have been on duty at their designated locations, establishing an emergency rescue response system including patrols of vulnerable areas and pre-removal of risk factors.


They have issued Emergency Level 2 for heavy rain preparedness, deploying about 1,300 personnel and around 800 pieces of equipment daily to do their best to protect the lives of residents.


Additionally, Chief Hong has been presiding over seven fire station commanders' meetings since last weekend, making efforts for an all-out campaign to ensure residents' safety.


Chief Hong said, “It is tough to work emergency shifts day and night without weekends, but please do not let your guard down until the end and do your best to protect the lives of residents.”


Meanwhile, Lee Dong-hyun, Chair of the Safety, Construction, and Fire Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, also conducted an on-site inspection on the 23rd, checking areas at risk of landslide in Boseong County together with Chief Hong.
