Maintaining Tradition While Keeping Appropriate Boundaries After Defamation Controversy
This year’s graduation photos of Uijeongbu High School, which have attracted attention every year by featuring notable figures from various fields, have been released. This year’s graduates also expressed their individuality well through various issues and characters, continuing the tradition of Uijeongbu High School.

Looking at the photos posted by the Uijeongbu High School Student Council on the 22nd, the first thing that caught the eye was a student who transformed into 'Yongin Pussi' Panda Pubao, who became the 'K-eldest daughter' this year after gaining twin younger siblings. The student, with their upper body painted black and white, is gazing into the distance.
A student parodying the character Rabbit from the popular girl group NewJeans, who ranks number one on the charts every time they release a new song, also drew attention. This student, who claims to be a rabbit, perfectly recreated the bright eyes, cute hands, and tail, making the album cover seem alive.
There was also a student who chose the outfit from British singer Sam Smith’s “Unholy” stage performance, which topped the Billboard charts. Wearing leather gloves and earrings, the student showed off Sam Smith’s distinctive bold pose.
A student disguised as the Little Mermaid from the Disney live-action movie, which was a hot topic from before its release until after, also appeared. Using octopus, yellow croaker, scallops, and yarn, the student transformed into the Little Mermaid.
A Uijeongbu High School graduate dressed as the protagonist of the movie Avatar wore a neat suit, but their face perfectly replicated the Avatar character’s appearance. The yellowish eyes and pointed ears were faithfully reproduced.

The Uijeongbu High School Student Council also released more than 30 graduation photos on SNS. Various characters that became topics of conversation, including Bin Salman, Tanaka, Chorong, and the characters from Suzume’s Locking, brought laughter with their costumes.
Uijeongbu High School’s graduation photos, known as a hallmark of graduation photo excellence, began to gain attention in 2009. They became an online sensation and established themselves as a school tradition, with many Uijeongbu High School students reportedly contemplating what to shoot for their graduation photos from early in their senior year.
At one time, political satire through dressing up as presidents and politicians was also famous, but some groups filed defamation claims, causing trouble. Recently, the student council and faculty have been holding prior meetings to maintain appropriate boundaries while preserving the school tradition.
