This Is the First Overseas Port Deployment
On the 22nd (local time), the U.S. Navy commissioned its latest warship in Sydney, Australia, according to major foreign media reports.
On that day, the U.S. Navy held the commissioning ceremony for the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS Canberra (LCS 30) at the Australian naval base in Sydney.
This is the first time a U.S. Navy ship has been commissioned at a foreign port. Richard Marles, Australia's Minister for Defence, stated, "Australians can be proud that this ship, designed by regional industries in Western Australia and named after HMAS Canberra, is being commissioned here for the first time in U.S. Navy history."
The commissioning ceremony took place amid the multinational joint exercise "Talisman Saber," co-hosted by the United States and Australia. This year's exercise included participation from 15 countries, including South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Indonesia.
