Samcheok Police Awards Commendations to Detective Team Leader's Son and Others

A police officer chasing a thief in Samcheok City, Gangwon Province, succeeded in capturing the suspect with the help of his teenage son. It was a case of a father and son collaborating in an investigation to catch the criminal.

According to the Samcheok Police Station in Gangwon on the 21st, last month in downtown Samcheok, a man stole a citizen's mobile phone and cash and fled.

The Detective Team 2 in charge of the case identified the thief as a teenager through nearby CCTV footage.

Detective Team 2 Chief, Sergeant Kim Nam-seon, while tracking the suspect's route via CCTV, realized that the suspect's path passed near the academy his teenage son attends. He informed his son about the suspect's appearance and characteristics, asking him to notify if he saw someone similar.

A few days later, the son, who went to a PC room with friends, spotted a person resembling the suspect his father described. After the suspect left the PC room, the son followed him and informed Sergeant Kim.

Thanks to the son trailing the suspect for 15 minutes and providing his route, Sergeant Kim and his colleagues succeeded in apprehending the suspect.

The Samcheok Police recognized the contributions of Sergeant Kim's son and his friends by awarding them the Police Chief's Commendation and a reward for the report.
