The on-site investigation period by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) regarding allegations of recruitment corruption at the National Election Commission (NEC) will be extended by one week.
On the 21st, the ACRC announced that the on-site investigation period for the NEC recruitment corruption case will be extended by one week, until the 28th.
The ACRC stated, "Due to delays in the submission of necessary materials for the investigation, such as public servant career recruitment documents requested from the NEC, we have inevitably decided to extend the on-site investigation period by one week."
Since May, the ACRC has been conducting on-site investigations, including analysis of public servant career recruitment data and interviews with related personnel, starting from the 14th of last month, to clarify allegations of preferential treatment in the recruitment of NEC officials' children raised by the media and political circles.
Jung Seung-yoon, head of the NEC recruitment corruption full-scale investigation team, said, "The extension of the investigation period is unavoidable to transparently reveal the allegations of recruitment corruption at the NEC," adding, "We will complete the on-site investigation by the end of this month and announce the results in August."
