"Increasing Adoption Rate in the Public Sector"
Medical AI company Lunit announced on the 21st that it has signed a supply contract for the chest X-ray AI image analysis solution 'Lunit Insight CXR' with the National Police Hospital.
Lunit Insight CXR is software that assists medical staff by interpreting 10 types of chest diseases such as lung nodules, pulmonary fibrosis, and pneumothorax using AI-based technology.
The Police Hospital is a public medical institution that provides medical services to police officers and firefighters nationwide, and is also available to police families and the general public. Located in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the Police Hospital is the only national general hospital in the southeastern region of Seoul.
Under this contract, Lunit will supply Lunit Insight CXR to the Police Hospital for one year to assist in diagnosing lung diseases of visiting patients, including police officers and firefighters. Specifically, the Police Hospital plans to use Lunit's AI solution to precisely interpret chest X-ray images during patient examinations in the emergency room and respiratory medicine departments.
Since 2019, starting with public health centers, Lunit has annually introduced new medical AI solutions to military hospitals such as the Armed Forces Capital Hospital and Yeonpyeong Unit, as well as local medical centers. This year, the company is continuing to expand its public healthcare business by supplying products to overseas military hospitals and police hospitals.
Kim Jin-hak, director of the Police Hospital, said, "We decided to use Lunit Insight CXR because we judged it to be useful for interpreting chest images at our hospital," adding, "We expect to provide better medical services to patients by shortening interpretation time and improving diagnostic accuracy through the introduction of CXR."
Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit, said, "Since soldiers and police officers live in group settings, lung-related diseases are commonly found," and added, "We will strive to provide advanced AI-based medical services so that these public officials can perform their duties safely."
Meanwhile, last year, Lunit secured exclusive operating rights in the bid for the 'BreastScreen NSW' breast cancer screening program by the New South Wales government in Australia and confirmed participation in the 'SEHA Virtual Hospital' project, a core task of Saudi Arabia's national strategic business, actively expanding its B2G (business-to-government) operations in the global public healthcare sector.
