Active Exchanges Expected in Various Fields Including Economy, Culture, and Tourism



Gwangjin-gu Signs Sisterhood Agreement with Jangheung-gun, Jeonnam

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) signed a sisterhood agreement with Jangheung-gun on July 20 at the Gwangjin-gu Office Planning Situation Room to promote exchange cooperation and mutual development.


The two cities agreed to foster mutual friendship and improve residents' welfare through active exchanges in various fields such as administration, economy, culture, and education. In particular, they promised to cooperate so that residents of both cities can enjoy practical benefits such as sales and promotion of Jangheung-gun’s agricultural and specialty products, discounts on tourist site entrance fees, and accommodation costs.


The main points include ▲ mutual cooperation to revitalize local culture, tourism, and festivals ▲ expansion of direct transactions of Jangheung-gun’s excellent agricultural and specialty products ▲ sharing of best policy practices and activation of human and material exchanges ▲ support with relief supplies and dispatch of volunteer groups in case of disasters and emergencies.


At the signing ceremony, about 30 officials from both institutions, including Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu, Mayor Kim Seong of Jangheung-gun, the chairpersons of the Gwangjin-gu Council and Jangheung-gun Council, attended. The event proceeded with greetings, congratulatory speeches, signing of the agreement, and exchange of commemorative gifts.


The Jangheung-gun delegation will stay in Gwangjin-gu for two days, visiting the Gwangjin-gu Council and touring the Jayang 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone, the site of the new Gwangjin-gu Office building.


Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, “I sincerely welcome Mayor Kim Seong, Chairman Wang Yoon-chae, and all members of the Jangheung-gun delegation. I am honored to establish the first sisterhood agreement since my inauguration as mayor with Jangheung-gun, and I will continue to actively exchange in various fields to become close neighbors beyond the distance.”


Gwangjin-gu plans to continue active exchanges with six sister cities, including Jangheung-gun, and four friendship cities.
